CELTIC:
The Celtic spiral and knot work designs were the tribal art of the early
people inhabiting Europe and the English Isles. The designs we use are
taken from stone carvings found in the Pictish areas of Scotland. Other
sources include the Book of Kells. The animal designs are considered
religious zoomorphic art depicting birds and animals sacred to the Celts,
or shape shifting by Druids or mythological characters into animal form.
For Celts, hounds were associated with the warrior cast and valor, eagles
were thought of as the messengers of the godhead. The knot work designs
symbolize regeneration. They personify the soul 's journey to perfection
along the thread of life which unendingly returns to its divine source.
